Special Night

Last week my mom & my sisters spent an evening out together to celebrate my mom's birthday. We started our evening at Pottery Works and each of us picked out a unique piece of pottery to paint.

My mom and Jenna chose coffee mugs while Angie and I chose to make a special celebration dinner plate. The idea behind the plate is that whomever is celebrating whether it be a first day of school, birthday, report card, promotion, etc. gets to use the plate at dinnertime. And this cool square plate does not match my dinnerware what so ever!
Here is a picture of my finished product. I used what they call "explosive" paint around the edges and really like how the exploding turned out! Its hard to know exactly what the finished product will look like, they keep it for a week to put the final glaze on and fire it up. I was very pleased with the end result!
We ended our night with a light dinner at Panera Bread and a hearty ice cream cone at Maggie Moo's! I almost hate to admit that we all patronized another frozen dessert establishment. But really when your in the mood for some homemade peanut butter ice cream you go to Maggie Moo's and when your in the mood for some fresh Mango Italian Ice you go to Rita's. Our menu's are very different : )
Thanks Girls for a fun night out! Jenna-Pottery Works was a great idea!

  1. ooooohhh! You're getting in touch with the artsie side of you. Watch out...I'll pull you into helping me with the sets next year.
We had a mentee kickoff this afternoon and the kids had to come up with a cheerleading cheer for what they want their mentors to do with them and it ended up being about going to .....Rita's for ice! You'd be proud.
