Give A Day, Get A Day

Okay so being HUGE fans of Disney and visiting as often as we can we decided to participate in their "Give A Day, Get A Day" volunteer program. They listed several volunteer opportunities in our area where we could donate our time or service. We decided to go with the making blankets options for Lititz/Lancaster Project Linus. They donate blankets to children who are seriously ill, tramatized, or otherwise in need. Since they started 10 years ago they have donated over 25,000 blankets. And for each one of the blankets we donated Disney gave us a Free One day park admission pass!
At first i wasn't sure the blanket idea was our best option ( i don't sew!!!) but then i learned of a fleece style blanket that you basically just cut two pieces of fleece the same size, lay one on top of the other, cut strips in both pieces one inch apart, and knot them together. Piece of cake, Parker was even helping!
Disney, what a great incentive program!!!!
And I just got an email that they have reached their goal of 1 million volunteers and the progam is now over. I'm glad we acted when we did. Our passes our printed and ready for us. Now all that is left is get to ourselves to a Disney amusement park!

"White Winter"

Well not only did Lancaster, PA have a "White Christmas" we also had a "White Winter"!!!! And now that the snow has almost officially melted i can hardly remember when our yards used to be covered in inches and inches of snow. And all the boys wanted to do was play outside in the snow! And the kitchen floor was covered in beach towels that were covered with wet snow pants, gloves, and jackets.

Brady was a big help with the shoveling this year! Quite a few occassions Carlton either had to leave for work, was at work, or was resting for work and Brady really helped out! Oh and Parker too : ) Their efforts paid off...instead of paying them cash though we decided to treat them to a new Star Wars Lego set at Target.

I don't think our house has ever seen so much snow! Hard to believe there are now daffidils popping out of the mulch after all this snow was covering them for weeks. How do they survive this. Seasons are amazing!

Only negative to having a "White Winter" is having to make up all the school closing days! Looks like L-S will be going until June 15th!!!
